Eradicating Poverty – Giving Others a New Start in Life
Did you know that 26% of children in Montreal live below the poverty line?
The Welcome Hall Mission’s Family Services provides assistance to approximately one thousand families per week. For those who have a mailing address and whose income is below the poverty line, this department provides counseling, referral services, and access to a biweekly food bank.
Two special annual events are organized by Family Services: "Back-to-School with Heads Held High" is a 2-day fun-filled event taking place in late August during which approximately 2,000 children receive necessary school supplies and clothing. "Toy Day" takes place just before Christmas, where children receive new toys.
Simply Wonderful is pleased to partner with the Welcome Hall Mission in helping to support and empower young families in need by donating 5% of all frozen food sales (see Frozen Food Menu) to Family Services at the Welcome Hall Mission. In addition, Simply Wonderful is proud to have provided box lunches for the 170 volunteers working to make the Back-to-School with Heads Held High event a success, and has committed to providing box lunches to 130 volunteers for this year’s Toy Day.
How can you be sure that your purchase will make an impact?
Simply Wonderful believes in full transparency and has committed to making available a semi-annual stewardship report that details how many funds were amassed and how the funds were used by the Welcome Hall Mission’s Family Services.
Check back soon for our first report to see how, together, we were able to make an impact on improving the lives of young families in Montreal.
